Comedian Robin Ince played live in Marsden on Monday 27th June to support Marsden Library.  It was a fantastic night.  Robin made full use of the resources in Marsden Library – from Mills & Boon to Dostoyevsky – and was particularly appreciative of the Dr Seuss mat in the children’s section.   It reminded him of one of his favourite Dr S extracts, which also nicely sums up the power of libraries, full of books that can take you anywhere you want to go, on or off the planet:

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!

You’re off and away! You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

Thanks to Robin, we raised a wonderful £1600 for Marsden Library – and had a bloomin’ good laugh at the same time.

FoML volunteer & official photographer Bob Bray recorded the event for us.
