The third author to occupy our much sought after Local Writers Reading library chair is Chris Longden, who will be joining us on 6th July, 7.30 – 8.30pm.
Chris will be reading from her forthcoming new book, A Cuckoo in the Chocolate, which is a sequel to Mind Games and Ministers, and continues the tale of Rachel Russell:
… a woman struggling to cope with the death of her husband, the shock of lone parenting, ever-increasing debts, the resurrection of an affair with a former colleague and most recently a bit of a fling with a Government Minister.
Both books are best described as ‘light-hearted northern fiction – with a strong social message.’
Chris is from Dukinfield and moved to Namibia in 2003, where she lived and worked with the Kalahari Bushmen – producing two books about them. On returning to the UK – with new family in tow – Chris settled in Netherton where she began to manage an international charity as well as becoming involved in setting up Dark Woods Coffee Roastery in Marsden.
Entrance is £5, payable on the door, refreshments included.
