Join Brian Groom, author of the bestelling ‘Northerners: A History, from the Ice Age to the Present Day’, who will read passages covering 180 million years of history. He will explain how northern England’s people have shaped Britain and the world in unexpected ways. He will also show how the past echoes down the centuries and explore what northernness means today and the crucial role the north can play in Britain’s future.

Brian Groom is a journalist, formerly assistant editor and political editor of the Financial Times. He also launched and later edited Scotland on Sunday, the Scotsman’s Sunday paper. Originally from Stretford, Greater Manchester, he now lives in Saddleworth.
