Books are just the start of it. Our Library is a warm and welcoming space where everyone is welcome, and there’s lots to do!

Marsden Evening Book Club
Not strictly in the Library, but still part of what the Library offers. The evening book club meets in the Liberal Club once a month. Members especially appreciate the way Book Club gets them reading things they would never otherwise have picked up.
How does it work?
We generally arrive between 8 and 8.30. We sit in a group. When we’re talking about the book we try and only have one conversation at a time! We buy our drinks and snacks from the bar. We usually start with a show of hands: ‘Who’s read it?” Then we have a questions-based discussion. Sometimes we get the questions from the internet, or we write our own, or a mixture. Some people have lots to say, some people are happy to sit and listen. There’s only one rule: “you don’t have to have read the book to come to book club”. Sometimes you’re too busy, or you just don’t get on with the book. That’s fine, come for some book chat anyway. We’d love to see you.
