Friends of Marsden Library recently held two more ‘Local Writers Reading’ events in the relaxed setting of Marsden Library.

Showcasing local writing talent, the Local Writers Reading events are a great opportunity to meet and quiz writers  – and add to your ‘to read’ list. (Remembering, always, that you can request books from Marsden Library for a small fee.)

First, Tim Taylor shared two tales with us, one set in Ancient Greece, the other in contemporary South America, both dealing with struggles for power in one way or another.

Next, we got to know Chris Longden, who writes light-hearted Northern fiction, drawing on many of her own experiences in work and life, set in and around Saddleworth, Tameside and other local areas.

Both writers shared generously both their books and their experiences of writing, happily answering all our questions – from places to write, to how to get started, the pros and cons of self-publishing, and how to get through writers block.
