Our next Local Writers Reading author event has something for everyone.

Dave Rigby reading from Darkstone, his first novelFirst up, we are delighted to welcome back our first ever Local Writer, Dave Rigby (pictured here in Marsden Library reading from his well-received novel, Darkstone).

Ever since Dave told us he’d started a detective series – “because I thought that would force me to keep going, if I said it was a series” – we’ve been keenly awaiting it.

Dave will read from his first Harry Vos story, Shoreline:

Cover of ShorelineShoreline is set in Belgium and features Harry Vos, a retired man and part-time private investigator.  Having discovered a body washed up on the shore, he leaves the beach briefly to contact the police.  By the time he returns, the body has disappeared.

Harry’s investigation takes him into the murky and dangerous world of people-smuggling.

Dave will read from Shoreline, and take questions.  He’ll also be signing his book – you can buy your copy by clicking on the picture of the book above, or on the night directly from Dave.
We’re also pleased to introduce Andrew Shephard to Marsden.  Andrew Shephard, wearing sunglasses and sun hat

Andrew’s novel, ‘Nellie and Tabs: a Radical Romance’ takes us back to the 1970s, evoking a time mixed equally with hope for an alternative future and fears of an environmental or nuclear Armageddon.

Nellie and Tabs tells the story of two young people trying to make their way in a changing world and struggling to understand their feelings for each other.  Their beliefs and lifestyle get them into trouble, but the spark between them intensifies.

Andrew lives in Huddersfield with his wife, a garden, and a Golden Retriever.  He used to write non-fiction and has had over 100 magazine articles published, but now concentrates on fiction.  ‘Nellie and Tabs’ is his fourth novel, and the first to be published under his own name and without a lurid cover.
